The visa regulations for Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai, destinations served by Air China direct from Germany with connecting flights to a third country or another region (Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macao), have now been significantly improved.
Travellers who are connecting one of the Air China flights Frankfurt–Beijing, Frankfurt–Shanghai, Munich–Beijing, Munich–Shanghai or Düsseldorf–Beijing, with an international or regional connecting flight, can enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 144 hours in Beijing or Shanghai. For international transit from Frankfurt to Chengdu, simplified regulations also now apply: no visa is required for a stay of up to 72 hours.
Thanks to its extensive and balanced route network, Air China offers many transfer options not only for other destinations in China but also for regional destinations such as Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan.
