Austrian Airlines is reconstructing its route network in the 2018/2019 winter timetable. The reason for the changes in the route network is a realignment of the portfolio. Hong Kong, Havana and Colombo as well as Isfahan and Shiras are being removed from the offer. The traditional flight to the Iranian capital Tehran, however, remains within the schedule. The flights withdrawn from the offer can easily be absorbed by existing connections of the Lufthansa Group airlines – Austrian Airlines will use the newly-available capacities to expand existing routes, especially to North America and China. The frequency increases in the 2018/2019 winter flight schedule at a glance:
Vienna – Chicago (ORD): 1 x daily (+2/7)
Vienna – Newark (EWR): 6 times a week (+2/7)
Vienna – New York (JFK): up to 6 times a week (+3/7)
Vienna – Toronto (YYZ): 5 times a week (+1/7)
Vienna – Beijing (PEK): 5 times a week (+1/7)
Vienna – Shanghai (PVG): 5 times a week (+1/7)
In total, Austrian Airlines will fly up to 29 times every week to destinations in North America and up to 19 times to destinations in Asia in the coming winter timetable.
