Pieter Bruegel the Elder, also called ‘Bauernbruegel’, is well known for his depictions of 16th-century rural life in the Duchy of Brabant.
Brussels Airlines has dedicated their now sixth Belgian icon aircraft to this painter, which displays particularly elaborate livery, as various works of art by Pieter Bruegel have inspired the design of an Airbus A320 both inside and out. The special paintwork took 19 days and was done by hand due to the complexity and high level of detail. Bruegel’s first flight was to Venice, and over the next five years this flying work of art will be operated by Brussels Airlines on flights within Europe and to the Middle East.
