Based on passenger feedback, Eurowings has revised the SMART fare* for short- and medium-haul flights. The redesign was specifically created to meet the need for a speedy boarding process and the guaranteed transport of carry-on baggage in the cabin. The combination of snacks and drinks offered so far was almost irrelevant to the customer's wishes and will be replaced by the new service elements.
A new service element of the SMART fares is that in future SMART passengers and status customers will benefit from priority boarding. SMART passengers who arrive at the gate only after the start of basic boarding can also board quickly via the separate priority boarding lane. In addition, as passengers in the first boarding group, SMART passengers are guaranteed that their carry-on baggage will be transported in the cabin and not put in the hold later on, even on fully booked flights.
When it comes to catering on board, passengers on the SMART fare will in future have ‘more choice, more flexibility’: passengers can choose their desired combination from the affordable and varied range of drinks and snacks offered by the on-board shop. The check-in of a piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg remains unchanged for SMART passengers.
The concept will be introduced in Cologne, Vienna, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Palma de Mallorca, Munich, Dusseldorf and Dortmund by June, and will be extended to all Eurowings flights by September. This modification also applies to the SMART Flex and Dynamic Flex SMART fares.
*The adjustment also applies to SMART Flex and Dynamic Flex SMART fares.
