The payment by credit card of tickets for flights with Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS with a journey start in Switzerland has, up to now, incurred an optional payment charge (OPC) of 1.65% of the ticket price. In the course of an internal review of the Swiss market, it has been established that the OPC can be reduced to 1.50%. The maximum charge will remain at CHF 30 per ticket.
This adjustment enables us to pass on reduced credit card costs to our customers. By having a maximum charge per ticket, we also continue to ensure that the costs, e.g. for First Class tickets, are not too high.
The new OPC for the Swiss market is being introduced in all distribution channels and will still be levied automatically on tickets issued in computerised reservation systems (GDS). The methods of payment that incur the OPC and the amount of the OPC in the remaining journey-start countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland and the UK) remain unchanged.
