From this autumn, United will start daily flights to Cuba from Newark Liberty International Airport. For more than 20 years, United has been offering the largest diversity of destinations of all airlines from this airport. The second largest Cuban-American population group also lives in the New York City/Newark region, the most densely populated urban centre in the United States.
The Houston Bush International Airport is an especially transfer-friendly airport and is at the same time United’s hub to South America. From there, United offers 91 daily non-stop connections to 52 destinations in Central and South America as well as to the Caribbean. Bush International will have an important role for traffic to Cuba because it directly connects 20 important regions in the West and in the centre of the USA with only one stop to Cuba. The population in the Greater Houston area is one of the ten largest communities of Cuban descent: around 20,000 former Cubans live in the city itself.
