Cape Town, situated at Africa’s southern tip at the foot of Table Mountain, offers numerous tourist attractions, including the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with the Nobel Square, the harbour area with many boutiques, restaurants and museums and the Two Oceans aquarium.
A special recommendation is the fashionable district of Woodstock to the east of the city centre: in the 19th century it was a colonial port town, and a crime-ridden district during apartheid, but now it plays host to the city’s exciting, creative scene. Colourful Victorian terraced houses stand alongside former warehouses converted into galleries and shops. The city’s most interesting restaurants are located here and visitors can spot street art everywhere – while the jagged outline of Devil’s Peak towers above.
Cape Town’s surrounding areas are also worth a visit: spectacular beaches, renowned wineries and unique flora and fauna in some of the most beautiful national parks in South Africa can be conveniently reached from here.
